The OODA Loop is a decision-making framework developed by military strategist John Boyd.
This framework is intended to be iterative: the results of each step feed back into the beginning of the loop, informing subsequent iterations. This enables continuous improvement and refinement of the decision-making process.
Steps
- Observe: Gather information from your environment. Pay attention to changes, threats, and opportunities.
- Orient: Analyze the information, interpret it based on your experience, culture, and mental models.
- Decide: Choose a course of action based on your orientation.
- Act: Implement your decision quickly and observe the results.
